An American tradition since 1938, the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally is perhaps the most notable biker destination in the United States. The Sturgis Motorcycle Rally has taken place almost every year since 1938, with several exceptions during wartime. In 1942, for instance, the rally did not take place due to nationwide restrictions on gas.
